UNCLOS (United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea) provides the basis for a country's EEZ (Exclusive Economic Zone) with considerations for its marine resources, environmental responsibilities, border designation with neighboring countries, as well as the possibility to extend the boundary beyond the 200 nautical miles from the coastline.
Article 76 of UNCLOS defines the means that coastal countries can increase their territorial waters beyond the normal EEZ based on several criteria. FUGRO OSAE, with their near-shore and deep-water survey capabilities, provides the services to assist governments wishing to define their EEZ or to expand it using Article 76.
