Oceanography, also known as marine science, refers to the forces acting with and within the marine environment. FUGRO OSAE's customers are typically concerned with the physical properties of the oceans and seas, such as currents, waves, tides, and how geologic and environmental factors can influence those properties.
A tide gauge helps determine accurate water depth

In order to provide our clients with the information they need for their projects, we provide the following services:
- Hydro-dynamic measurements for ports and harbours and offshore construction
- Worldwide ocean current observations at all depths
- Wave height and direction observations
- CTD (conductivity, temperature and depth) measurements
- Tidal observations
- Sound velocity within the water column
Oceanographic services require special tools using the latest technology, for example ADCP sensors (acoustic doppler current profilers) to measure the speed and direction of ocean currents, or tide gauges (pictured here) to precisely measure wave height and period.
