Upon completion of a survey, clear communication of the findings is essential. Because "a picture is worth a thousand words," FUGRO OSAE has high standards for mapping and charting for which our clients are very satisfied. The charts come in a variety of types and sizes depending upon types of survey and client requirements. Some examples include North-up charts, Alignment charts, 3D charts, and area charts.
Because all the data are georeferenced, clients often request the data and charts in formats that they can use in their offices. Those formats include AutoCAD, MicroStation, DXF, and ESRI GIS formats. Other client-specific formats are also possible.
In most cases, it is best to have the map layout defined and agreed upon prior to the completion of the survey because the scale of the charts, for example, has a very large impact on the total quantity of charts. And depending upon the type of survey and the expected data, an incorrect scale could either yield charts that don't illustrate the details adequately or too many charts resulting in unnecessary paper and costs. The experts at FUGRO OSAE can help determine the best layout and chart-type for each particular project.
