about FUGRO OSAE
  Fugro's Mission

To be the world's leading service provider for the collection and interpretation of data relating to the earth's surface and sub-surface and for associated services and advice in support of infrastructure development on land, along the coast and on the seabed.

About FUGRO OSAE

Fugro collects, processes and interprets data related to the earth’s surface and soil composition and provides advice based on the results. As an extension to these activities, Fugro provides services such as precise positioning, construction materials testing, reservoir engineering and data management. Fugro’s operations have been organised into three divisions: Geotechnical, Survey and Geoscience. Fugro is listed on Euronext Amsterdam and is included in the AEX-Index. Fugro has approximately 13,500 employees in more than fifty countries.

FUGRO OSAE GmbH was established in 1983 under the name OSAE Offshore Survey and Engineering, Gesellschaft für Seevermessung mbH. With an excellent reputation both in and outside of Germany as one of the major, internationally-operating survey companies in the field of marine surveying, the company was acquired in October 2006 by the Fugro group of

companies, operating worldwide at sea, on land and by air. Strategically situated in the Hanseatic city of Bremen in northern Germany, OSAE is now known as FUGRO OSAE GmbH or simply as FOSAE.

Because each job is custom tailored, clients can expect the most effective and reliable solution for each specific project based on quality and value. In fact, quality is well known within FUGRO OSAE; we gained formal ISO 9002:1994 accreditation in 1997, which has since been updated to ISO 9001:2008, as well as Health and Safety (OHSAS 18001:2007) and Environmental (ISO 14001:2004) certifications. We also hold the Achilles Joint Qualification System for suppliers to the Oil Industry in Norway and Denmark as well as the Sellihca Certificate of Pre-Qualification. Furthermore, all survey personnel have participated in a basic safety training course according to the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW 95) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Our Specialty

Specialising in all types of hydrographic surveys, the majority of FUGRO OSAE's work is in the non Oil & Gas sector although exceptions are numerous. A particular specialty is in cable and pipeline route and inspection surveys with a wide range of practical experience throughout the world.

The complete range of FUGRO OSAE's services is extensive but can be summarised as conducting marine surveys to suit many purposes, performing desktop studies to indicate the feasibility of proposed projects and providing consulting services to enable our clients to make well-informed decisions.

Indeed, FUGRO OSAE is among the few companies worldwide able to provide swathe bathymetry surveys enabling coverage of large areas and handling the tremendous volumes of data acquired during such surveys. Those jobs naturally include all the project management that clients require. FUGRO OSAE boasts a reputation of excellent international standing which has been achieved by maintaining an exceptional degree of professionalism and handling clients' requirements with integrity and dedication – standards which FUGRO OSAE is continually seeking to reinforce.

Our Vessels

FUGRO OSAE owns and operates a fleet of survey vessels differing in both size and instrumentation, thus offering the rapid execution of services over the whole spectrum from inland waterways to deep water ocean surveys. Among the fleet are the custom-built catamaran MV Meridian and the 69 metre Fugro Gauss equipped with a Kongsberg Simrad EM 122 deep water multibeam echo sounder system.

At the same time, FUGRO OSAE is perfectly suited for small surveys and those in shallow waters with its smaller, jet-drive vessels like the Jetstream, thus covering all requirements from inshore coastal waters to deep sea operations.

FUGRO OSAE has also piloted many initiatives supporting the development of innovative technology and specialised marine survey equipment. The latest initiative is the ROC.si (remotely operated crawler for subsea inspections), a seabed crawler system designed for cable burial surveys and inspections in shallow water where ROV operations are often problematic due to strong currents - and high costs! The 800kg, electrically powered vehicle can be operated with a 300m umbilical in water depths down to 150m. The ROC.si is equipped with a USBL transponder, a TSS 350 cable tracker, and several cameras. Click here for a photo of "The Crawler" and see more photos in our photo gallery.

Clients, both at home and abroad, welcome FUGRO OSAE's state-of-the-art instrumentation and our personnel's technical know-how and expertise – with 25 years of experience. FUGRO OSAE utilises the very latest in both hardware and software at the Bremen-based office for data processing, analysis and presentation. These systems are reflected onboard several of FUGRO OSAE’s survey vessels to accommodate both surveying activities and data processing, thereby providing onboard client reps with as much data as required for onsite decision making. The processing software comes from both the custom Fugro suite and from highly specialised processing packages, all running on the latest Windows-based workstations.
